Those who are supposed to be Security men jailed 2 months for theft
TWO security men, Jerry Shammah and Nzaku were yesterday sentenced to two months imprisonment for stealing armoured cable from their duty post.
The accused persons of Santana Security were said to have jointly stolen the armored cable at AP Plaza, Wuse II, on October 3, 2010.
The prosecutor Adamu Abdullahi had earlier informed the court that on October 3, one Fazing Jangga reported to the police that the accused persons stole the said cable valued at N 144,500 at AP Plaza where they were detailed to guard and were subsequently arrested.
The accused pleaded guilty and begged for leniency, saying they will not do it again and that they did not know what came over them.
The prosecutor urged the court to try the accused summarily under section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code, adding that the offences are punishable under section 79 and 287 of the Penal Code Law.
Based on their confession, magistrate Okeagu Azbak sentenced the accused persons to two months imprisonment each or a fine option of N 2,000 each on the two count charge.
