Jonathan cannot contest, says Babangida
Former military
president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has said that he will only serve
one term if elected president in 2011, because of the principle of
rotation adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mr. Babangida,
who was speaking to newsmen in Dutse on Sunday after a closed door
meeting with Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido said because of the PDP
stance on rotation, he will only serve four years.
He pointed out that
late president Umaru Yar ‘Adua served for one term and that he will
complete the second term and thereafter any person from any other other
region could take over. “We must be seen to be respecting our
arrangement and the party’s constitution, hence my desire to serve for
only one term,” Mr. Babangida said. He also stated that President
Goodluck Jonathan and any other aspirant from the the South could not
contest the 2011 presidency without amending the PDP constitution
first.
Condemn the blast
He condemned the
October 1st bomb blast, which he said has sent a bad signal about the
country, saying government must do everything possible to address the
lingering insecurity. He said Nigerians must all work hard to fight the
growing problem. “Security of lives and property is the collective
responsibility of all and sundry, we must all join hands to fight the
monster which is threatening our peaceful co existence,” he said.
Nigeria needs a leader who will positvely affect the life of an ordinary Nigerian. Goodluck Jonathan has the best profile so far. Even God accepts what men accept! U can also make ur own assessment
Incredible now BADAMOSI BABANGIDA can come out boldly that some person(s) is not eligible to contest!It rally suprising and amazing.When he was the head of state for eight years what did he do to justfy his eligibility to contest now?We are all living withness to his mismanagement of resources in his disposal, abuse of office, encouragement given to 419, smuggling of hard drugs, injustice and absense of rule of law.If he believes in his popularity, influence and affluence why can’t he intensify his efforts more on the reason why he think he deserve another four years to govern Nigerian again.Nigerians are more matured and wiser and we are waiting for credible candidates not even from PDP alone but also other parties.
As for Babangida, nemesis will soon catch up on him the wrong doing and injustice he has done to our great nation Nigeria.He vehemently violated the rules of the land and he has the effrontery to come out again for a political post.He should cover his face with shame.June 12,1993 annulled election and killing of innocent Ken Saro-Wiwa along with other Ijaws will remained evergreen.Our pray is that he will not get there again …….
